Pramac Racing issued a statement that Ben Spies will not continue the Italian Grand Prix, after undergoing two free practice sessions which took place on Friday (31/05/2013). U.S. racer has been absent in the previous two races, in Spain and France, as was undergoing rehabilitation due to pain in the shoulders and chest.
The following statement was issued Pramac Racing, Saturday (06/01/2013) morning local time:
"Unfortunately, the two free practice sessions yesterday showed that muscle problem still bothers Ben Spies. Rehabilitation process with the Texas rider takes place in the last four weeks and already showing good progress, but still inhibits Spies to spend his best on the track.
After analyzing the situation, Pramac Racing Team, Ducati Corse, and riders make the best decision to continue the process of rehabilitation and physiotherapy, as well forget about all the activity on the track in order to give an opportunity for Ben to perform the healing process in total.
In the next few days, Ben Spies will undergo further tests to clarify the situation and evaluate a more definite action should be taken for full recovery. "
At the Le Mans circuit two weeks ago, Spies position filled by Ducati test rider, Michele Pirro, who at the Italian GP back down to the wild card, and will be racing with a new version of Ducati motorcycles.
