FIFA will make a decision about racism

FIFA will hold a vote on Friday (31/05) on a proposal that will hopefully put an end to racism and discrimination in football. Steps taken by the FIFA anti-racism task force, it will introduce additional supervisors in every game and strict punishment will be given to clubs that players, officials or supporters found guilty of acts of racism. Head of the task force has warned that the reform will have broad impact on every member of the association.

"There will be no one is immune from this," said Jeffrey Webb on BBC.

Talk about Mauritius, where the ongoing Fifa's annual congress, Webb says sanctions aimed as a "reminder" and warned that the next World Cup host to be sentenced under the new rules.

"Well, we had a problem. We must find a solution and everyone should remember that if you break them, there will be a penalty to be applied," he added.

The new regulations originally designed for competitions organized by FIFA but Webb led the task force will recommend that sanctions apply universally.

"FIFA regulations adopt penalties against racism in 2001," said Webb, who is also vice-president of FIFA.

"But just adopted it can not prevent racism so now we will make it a mandate, with the support of the Congress, that this rule will be adopted by 209 FIFA members around the world."
